DAN Institute – DAN Seal of Fairness
DAN Seal of Fairness in Business Practice
|
The use of the DAN Seal of Fairness in Business Practice (in short DAN Fairness Seal) is available to businesses and organizations which voluntarily commit themselves to practice fairness at all levels of the organization in daily operations. These entities’ intentions as well as action are ethically responsible. The core values of the DAN Institute aid these entities in establishing their foundation; these and their description can be found in the brochure DAN – DAN Institute. |
|
The Seal is to be used as self-declared. In other words, anyone who voluntarily obligates himself to follow the guidelines is welcome to use the Seal.
The Seal can be used in the footer of correspondences, brochures, etc. It can be used on its own, or with additional remarks, see example below:

Guidelines
Fairness to humanity as a whole: Only offer products and services which are worthy of being designated as fair and honest to all.
Fairness to nature and the environment: Production and sales/distribution of the product or service must mindfully respect the use of natural resources. A great deal of value is to be placed on prohibiting use of or creating materials hazardous to the environment.
Fairness and attention to every life: Refusal to sell, use or develop products (plants, meat, etc.) which have been genetically engineered or raised/produced out of proper accordance.
Fairness to society: Actions are not geared to maximize profits; goals (in some cases precisely formulated) are oriented around achieving higher moral expectations.
Fairness to coworkers: Regardless of background, origin, race, religion, gender, etc., all individuals are revered respectfully and with dignity. Everyone is treated with equality and reasonably compensated for their work.
Fairness to shareholders: They shall receive reasonable compensation for their work. Honest reporting on a regular basis, along with responsible mid and long range planning, keeps risk at a minimum.
Fairness to the customer: The traits and qualities of products/services are described accurately and sold at a reasonable price. The customer is viewed as a business partner.
Fairness to the supplier: Components, finished products as well as services are purchased at a fair price; this insures their long term survival as a supplier. The supplier is also viewed as a business partner.
Fairness to the competition: Competitors are treated with respect and decency. There is no slander or defamation of the competition.
Fairness in using the DAN Fairness Seal: Businesses and organizations obligate themselves to adhere to all requirements set by the guidelines stated when using the DAN Fairness Seal.
